Garbage front woman Shirley Ann Manson was born in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh on August 26, 1966. Despite her singing voice sounding distinctly American, she has a Scottish brogue. Although she now spends most of her time stateside, the feisty vocalist remains true to her Scottish roots by following her local football team Hibs. She’s a bigger fan of the NBA though, describing herself as ‘an insane basketball freak’. Shirl’s favourite dunkers are the San Antonio Spurs, possibly due to her well-publicised crush on lanky power forward Tim Duncan.
